Privacy Policy
1. Overview
PsyDuck (“we”, “us”, “our”) is a live multiplayer party trivia game published by Farnodes. This Privacy Policy explains what information the PsyDuck app and game servers collect, how we use it, and what choices you have.
PsyDuck is designed for casual group play. You can join with a display name and avatar without creating a full account. Optional profile fields (email, username, phone) may be offered in future versions but are not required to play a standard lobby today.
2. Information we collect
2.1 Information you provide
- Display name — shown to other players in your lobby.
- Avatar — an emoji or short visual identifier you choose.
- Game submissions — fake answers and votes you submit during a round.
- Optional account fields — email, username, phone, or password if you choose to register (guest play does not require these).
2.2 Information collected automatically
- Device identifier — a client-generated ID stored on your device and sent to our servers to recognize your player profile across sessions.
- Lobby & session data — lobby codes, player lists, round state, scores, and connection events needed to run realtime gameplay.
- Technical logs — server request logs, error reports, and basic diagnostics (timestamps, API routes, health checks) to keep the service running.
- Local device storage — the app may store your device ID, lobby context, and preferences (such as sound settings) in on-device storage (e.g. AsyncStorage) so you can reconnect to an active game.
2.3 What we do not collect
- Precise GPS location (the app does not request location permissions for gameplay).
- Contacts, photos, or microphone recordings for core game features.
- Payment information (PsyDuck is currently free to play).
3. How we use information
We use collected information to:
- Create and manage lobbies, match players, and run live rounds.
- Calculate scores and show results at the end of each game.
- Prevent abuse (duplicate answers, invalid votes, reconnect handling).
- Maintain and improve server reliability, performance, and security.
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.
We do not use your data for third-party advertising profiles.
5. Data retention
- Live game state (lobbies, rounds, votes, scores in Redis) is temporary and expires after inactivity (lobby TTL, typically up to one hour, refreshed during active play).
- User profiles in our database are retained while you use the app. Accounts with no activity for 90 days may be automatically deleted by our server maintenance job.
- Trivia questions are stored separately; gameplay may mark questions as used but does not link them to individual identity beyond the active session.
- Server logs are kept for a limited operational period and then rotated or deleted.
6. Children
PsyDuck is a social party game intended for general audiences. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will take steps to delete it.
Parents and guardians should supervise younger players in shared lobbies and help them choose appropriate display names.
7. Your choices & rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to:
- Access, correct, or delete your profile data.
- Object to or restrict certain processing.
- Withdraw consent where processing is consent-based.
- Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
To exercise these rights, email us at privacy@psyduck.games. We may need to verify your request using your device ID or account details.
You can clear local app data by uninstalling the app or clearing app storage in your device settings.
8. Security
We use industry-standard measures including encrypted transport (HTTPS/WSS in production deployments), access controls, and isolated game state storage. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; use PsyDuck on trusted networks when possible.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the revised version on this page and update the “Last updated” date. Continued use of PsyDuck after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
